Southborough, Mass. - March 8, 2004 - ViryaNet (NasdaqSC: VRYA), a leading provider of integrated mobile and Web-based software applications for workforce management and the automation of field service delivery, today announced that ViryaNet Service Hub has upgraded to MapQuest Advantage Enterprise, a high-performance mapping, routing, geocoding, and spatial searching engine. MapQuest, as the world's leading online mapping, routing, and global location services company and wholly owned subsidiary of America Online, Inc., is the platform chosen by ViryaNet to drive the location component to the latest release of ViryaNet Service Hub.

ViryaNet Service Hub is a full service workforce management system that enables users to initiate work orders, book appointments, schedule and dispatch field technicians, balance workloads, integrate with mobile devices, and report on field activity. Maps play a prominent role in such systems, by promoting identification of the location of the service needed and the proximity of staff who can respond.

Since its introduction in March 2000, ViryaNet Service Hub has integrated with MapQuest. ViryaNet is now upgraded with MapQuest Advantage Enterprise to help customers optimize routing and select and track field service personnel. An additional customer benefit is that MapQuest turn-by-turn directions are available in multiple languages, using latitude and longitude coordinates.

The combination of ViryaNet Service Hub and MapQuest Advantage Enterprise allows dispatchers to graphically see both the location of the task and the locations of the closest field engineers on a map. With use of map-based drag and drop technology inherent in ViryaNet Service Hub, those dispatchers can assign a task or a group of tasks to an engineer. In addition, technicians in the field can determine more economical routes to their service destinations.
