Telvent Closes First ViryaNet Service Hub Deal in Spain
Southborough, Mass. - July 28, 2003 - ViryaNet (NasdaqSC: VRYA), a leading provider of integrated mobile and Web-based software applications for workforce management and the automation of field service delivery, today announced that its partner Telvent has sold ViryaNet Service Hub software license to utility company Canal de Isabel II, located in Madrid, Spain.
Telvent became a ViryaNet partner in November 2001, and is responsible for marketing, selling, implementing, and supporting the ViryaNet solutions in the utilities, oil & gas, and telecommunications markets in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. Telvent is the Information Technology subsidiary of Abengoa.
Under the terms of the contract, Canal de Isabel II, one of the biggest water utilities in Spain, serving 800,000 customers, will use the wireless, Internet, and integration capabilities of ViryaNet Service Hub to provide mobile capabilities to a legacy work order management application, which serves 76 members of its field staff.
With ViryaNet Service Hub, Canal de Isabel II will download/upload required information from its various in-house systems and send service information to field mobile devices, enabling its technicians to better manage inspections, disconnections, and preventive maintenance work orders.
"Our goal is to make Canal de Isabel II into a showcase account, thus serving as the basis for our marketing and selling ViryaNet Service Hub to many more customers," stated Manuel Sanchez Ortega, CEO, Telvent. "Because ViryaNet Service Hub supports multiple currencies, time zones, and languages, we are easily creating a Spanish version of this system for use at Canal de Isabel II."
ViryaNet Service Hub creates an environment in which service organizations, together with their customers, partners, vendors, and suppliers, collaborate in real-time to conduct work and share information. ViryaNet Service Hub includes an information portal that provides community access and collaboration; business intelligence for proactive reporting, analysis and action; automated workflow; contact
management; and service delivery integration.
"Our partner channels are gaining momentum around the world, and we are especially pleased by the success of our joint efforts with Telvent" stated Win Burke, president and CEO, ViryaNet. "Our newly-formed relationship with Canal Isabel II, through Telvent, strengthens our presence in the utilities industry and continues to validate ViryaNet Service Hub. We welcome Canal de Isabel II into the
ViryaNet family."
