VIRYANET DEMONSTRATES FIELD SERVICE APPLICATION FOR UTILITIES DURING FREE ESEMINAR
April 22, 2002

Solution Automates Continuum of Field Service Activities - From Short Duration Tasks to Complex Assignments

Southborough, Mass. - April 22, 2002 - ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), a provider of integrated wireless and Web-based software applications for workforce management and the automation of field service delivery, today announced that it will conduct an online seminar for members of the utilities industry. The eSeminar will be presented live by Shannon Penney, utilities solution consultant at ViryaNet, and will be followed by a question and answer session.

The eSeminar, entitled "Automating Utility Field Service Activity: From Short Duration Tasks to Complex Assignments", will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM EDT. Attendees will learn how ViryaNet's application meets the full range of workforce management capabilities - from allowing users to extend and unify existing systems with Web-based scheduling, dispatch, and mobile functionality to automating all workforce and resource management steps in complex installation and construction projects.

"Deregulation of the utilities industry means a paradigm shift in service delivery. Gas, electric, water, and nuclear companies that have been regulated and publicly funded must transform their service division into a profitable, customer-centric operation, by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their service delivery operations as a means to contain costs, improve top-line revenue, and achieve customer satisfaction and market differentiation," said Jack McAvoy, vice president, marketing programs, ViryaNet. "They must learn to be competitive by introducing new and efficient business processes and by adopting new technologies."

"ViryaNet is unique in its capacity to offer a one-stop solution for the management of all field force divisions within a utility - including those operations that are responsible for the short duration tasks as well as those that must manage the more complex work management issues of non-linear, resource-intensive construction, installation, and maintenance projects," said Shannon Penney. "During the eSeminar, we will explore the challenges that utilities organizations face managing their field service operations, and we'll offer strategies for overcoming them."

ViryaNet offers the utilities industry applications for workforce management, supported by applications for contract and service level agreements, supply chain logistics, and repair.
