Seasoned Executive Brings Experience in Telecommunications and Utility Industries
Southborough, Mass. - March 28, 2001 - ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), a provider of enterprise and mid-market wireless workforce management solutions for field service communities, today announced the appointment of Jay Sherry as senior vice president of worldwide marketing and business development. Mr. Sherry, who brings over 20 years of strategic marketing and leadership experience to ViryaNet, will report to CEO and president Win Burke. Mr. Sherry will oversee ViryaNet's
marketing programs, product management, marketing strategy, business development, and product marketing initiatives.

Mr. Sherry joins ViryaNet from Excelergy, a provider of software technologies and products for the restructuring energy and utility industry, where he was the vice president of marketing. Prior to that, he headed up marketing for Kenan Systems, a supplier of billing and customer care software to the telecommunications industry. Mr. Sherry was a key contributor to Kenan Systems' eighteen-fold growth over
four years to $300+ million. He was instrumental in assisting with the sale of Kenan to Lucent Technologies for $1.4B. Mr. Sherry also spent 12 years with IBM in a variety of product marketing and product management roles.
Mr. Sherry holds a B.S. from Brown University in applied mathematics and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
