VERIZON AVENUE GOES LIVE WITH VIRYANET SERVICE HUB
July 17, 2001

60-Day Implementation of ViryaNet's Service Hub Initiates Customer Self-Service, Automates Fulfillment, and Ensures Timely Billing

Southborough, Mass. - July 17, 2001 - ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), a provider of enterprise and mid-market wireless workforce management solutions for field service communities, today announced that Verizon Avenue, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Verizon Communications, and a provider of high-speed Internet access and voice communications services for apartment buildings, condominiums, and office buildings, has successfully implemented ViryaNet Service Hub, including ViryaNet's customer service portal and workflow management.

"Nationwide, more than 20 million households live in multiple dwelling units," stated Win Burke, president and CEO, ViryaNet. "Verizon Avenue's customer-focused strategy ensures greater visibility into the processes of adding, changing, and disconnecting services, faster and more effective escalation of problems, more automation to reduce errors and delays, and a central point of access to its business systems."

Using ViryaNet Service Hub, Verizon Avenue has improved the speed of order processing it can offer its customer base of nearly 70,000, across 9 states. New phone and internet service orders can be placed on-line, via the ViryaNet portal, gaining significant improvements in execution time over the previous fax and paper-based systems. Self-registration allows users to create their own personalized environment and ensures access to appropriate content only, while reducing Verizon Avenue's administration overhead. Additionally, Service Hub's workflow capabilities are designed to automate and accelerate order processing, providing Verizon Avenue with the opportunity to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs by eliminating the delays and errors associated with manual, paper-based systems, and capturing erroneous orders that might otherwise be lost. Verizon Avenue also hopes to benefit from timely revenue collection by integrating workflow with financial processes to provide automatic verification that service activation has occurred and ensure that billing has commenced.

"ViryaNet responded to the urgency of Verizon Avenue's business needs with a 60-day implementation made possible by our knowledge and experience of service, and our technical expertise," said Win Burke. "We believe that our rapid deployment has enabled Verizon Avenue to meet its short-term business objectives, and establish a position of strength for expansion and market presence. We are proud to help our customers achieve this level of success."
