OEM arrangement embeds ViryaNet wireless workforce, service contract, and depot repair management into the Xelus ESM solution suite
Southborough, Mass. - July 20, 2001 - ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), a provider of enterprise and mid-market wireless workforce management solutions for field service communities, today announced a strategic OEM partner relationship with Xelus, Inc., one of the leading providers of Enterprise Service Management (ESM) solutions to Global 1000 corporations. Xelus will embed ViryaNet's wireless workforce, service contract, and depot repair management functionality into the Xelus ESM
solution suite, creating a complete service planning and execution solution for high tech, aviation, telecommunications, surface transportation, and utilities companies.
"Xelus is the recognized leader in service parts planning, and we're building on that strength to address all aspects of enterprise service planning and delivery," said Mike Fabiaschi, chairman and CEO of Xelus. "We are rapidly expanding our offerings through internal development and partnerships with service experts like ViryaNet, targeting a need that simply isn't met by ERP, CRM, or
SCM solutions. Xelus is uniquely positioned to deliver a unified enterprise service management solution - for both parts and labor - that lets our clients reduce their costs, optimize service levels, and enhance profitability."
The Xelus ESM solution provides Web-based collaborative decision support, planning and execution functionality to optimize the core business processes of the service enterprise: service parts and workforce management, service delivery, asset management, and asset recovery (reverse logistics).
With the expanded Xelus ESM offering, clients will be able to optimize planning and execution simultaneously, while avoiding the long and often costly process of integrating separate solutions and maintaining the integration over time.
"We are very excited by this multi-year contract with Xelus, and feel that our two companies have great synergy," said Win Burke, president and CEO, ViryaNet. "Integrating ViryaNet Service Hub functionality with the Xelus ESM solution will enable service personnel to share information and work more effectively - from receipt of the service request to deployment and monitoring of field staff, to
the collection of vital service data, and closing of the work order. We are confident that Xelus will deliver even more value to its clients by embedding these capabilities within their overall ESM solution. We are also very pleased that Xelus will expand ViryaNet's reach to customers within other market segments."
"We are undertaking an aggressive OEM strategy to leverage ViryaNet Service Hub as an application platform," stated John Lee, ViryaNet's vice president of alliances and business development. "Xelus recognizes the time-to-market value that our technology offers."
Xelus will apply its domain expertise to help clients define a robust business process for the service enterprise, employing configurable workflow functionality to allow those clients to create solution sets precisely tailored to their needs.
"We chose ViryaNet because their expertise in service execution is a perfect complement to our expertise in planning," Fabiaschi said. "Equally important, their passion about the service enterprise matches our own. Xelus is totally focused on service, and the excitement about this space is growing as more global companies realize the value of service and the need for ESM solutions to drive
customer satisfaction, retention, and profitability."
