VIRYANET TO DEMONSTRATE VOICE PORTAL FOR FIELD SERVICE DURING LIVE E-SEMINAR
September 18, 2001

Southborough, Mass. - September 18, 2001 - ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), a leading global provider of wireless field service delivery solutions, today announced that it will conduct an online seminar to demonstrate how voice portals using speech recognition technology can improve the performance and productivity of field engineers. The eSeminar will be presented live by Jack McAvoy, vice president, marketing programs at ViryaNet and will be followed by a question and answer session.

The eSeminar, entitled "Voice Portal for Improving Field Engineer Productivity", will take place on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. EDT. Attendees will see how field engineers can use voice portals to:

Get Detailed Assignment Information. Field engineers can listen to new calls and get detailed information, such as what problems have been reported and when they need to arrive on site.
Report Activities. Field engineers can report information about current calls, such as arrival and departure time, miles traveled, and expenses incurred - all by using voice commands.
Access Hands-Free Dialing. Once in the Voice Portal system, field technicians can call customers, other technicians, or the call dispatcher, simply by saying, "call" followed by the person's name, without initiating a new call.
"ViryaNet understands that service processes depend upon information being available to the right person at the right time. We provide the technology to ensure this happens. Although the nine million or more field technicians in the United States cannot all access wireless data, they do all have the option of voice browsing," said Jack McAvoy. "The purpose of our eSeminar is to share our expertise and reveal how the ViryaNet Voice Portal uses speech recognition technology to guarantee that time-sensitive information is accessible to all mobile field engineers, regardless of location or coverage."

ViryaNet's Service Hub enables service organizations to schedule and dispatch field service technicians, and allows field engineers to wirelessly access relevant information regarding the service they are providing. With Voice Portal, Service Hub can allow communication with a wider variety of applications, platforms and devices. ViryaNet Voice Portal allows field engineers to access new calls; obtain detailed information about assignments; and report time-critical information, labor, travel time, and expenses using natural voice commands from any land-line or cellular phone.
